Arcadia

Arcadia cultivates Bio Suisse–certified aromatic and medicinal plants in Fontaines-sur-Grandson, at the foot of the Vaud Jura. The crops are grown in a system inspired by agroforestry, at the heart of a high-stem fruit orchard, where plants develop in close connection with their surrounding environment.

The project is led by Marion Beetschen and Florian Rochat. Their path has been shaped by a shared passion for plants, trees, and living ecosystems. After various community engagements and formative encounters, they chose to work the land themselves, in an approach that is both committed and rooted in family ties to the agricultural world. Arcadia has grown progressively, in step with the seasons and with life itself, as the cultivated area and diversity of plants have continued to evolve over time.

The plants cultivated by Arcadia are adapted to the local climate, and natural plant cycles are respected as closely as possible at every stage, from planting to harvesting and drying. Arcadia works with living soils, strengthening soil fertility through natural biological processes involving microfauna, fungi, and root systems, and places strong emphasis on encouraging biodiversity through elements such as extensive meadows, hedges, and dry-stone walls.

Plants are harvested by hand at the most appropriate moment in their development, then dried on site at low temperatures and protected from light. Packaging is designed to preserve aromas, colours, and properties as faithfully as possible, ensuring consistent quality without artifice.

The infusions developed for Maison Myrthus are the result of a close collaboration with Marion Beetschen, herbalist at Arcadia. Together, we worked on flavour, balance, and the role of each plant, considering both traditional uses and the desired sensory experience. The process unfolded through ongoing exchanges, adjustments, and tastings, with the aim of creating clear, balanced blends that are pleasant to drink, where each plant naturally finds its place and intention.
